Despite a background in technical writing, I love writing fiction about strong women. I'm descended from strong Pioneer Women who worked alongside their fathers, brothers, or husbands on farms in Texas and Arizona, killing rattlesnakes as easily as baking a pie. Those ancestors and other strong women I've encountered have stories to tell, and I love sharing them with you.
I write historical fiction, but also love mystery and a little magic. I've received excellent reviews from Kirkus, the Historical Fiction Co., BookLife, and others.. I've been a finalist in the 2023 American Writing Awards and received Honorable Mention from the Paris Book Festival and other awards.
I am a second-generation Arizonan and a history enthusiast. I am a member of the Historical Novel Society, the Arizona Authors Association, and the Arizona Territorial Society. I love to travel and am fortunate to have visited much of this beautiful country and the world. Visit my travel blog at https://wanderinwalkers.wordpress.com/

My book signings in Fry's Food & Drug Stores on Willow Creek Rd in Prescott and in Prescott Valley turned out great. At all the book signings, arranged through the Authors...
I had a great day at Fry's Food and Drug here in Prescott on June 6, 2025. I didn't know what to expect, but after getting my table set up, the customers began stopping by. I...
This historical novel, about a 1960s teenager whose visit to the local library disrupts her life perspective, is still in the works. However, we expect it to be published before...
My historical fiction about a real woman, Sarah Herring, A New York Lady In Helldorado, was enjoyable for me to write. I love history and spent many hours searching out all I could find about her life. I found a couple of newspaper and magazine articles, and a Wikipedia page gave me more information and resources. If any of you have read a biography by such authors/historians as David McCollough or a book of history, such as Bruce Catton's books about the Civil War, you know these books...
I've been a writer all my life. I wrote letters a lot when I was growing up. No one called long distance unless it was an emergency. Then I read the book, Anne Frank - A Diary of a Young Girl. So I got a diary and wrote. In fifth grade, my teacher chose me to write an article for the local newspaper that featured my byline and picture. In high school, I had study hall, and used most of the time to write bad poetry and more. Usually about what I wanted in life, or my feelings and thoughts....
I sent the completed manuscript of my cozy mystery, A Dream Of A Murder, to my publisher recently. But I'm still thinking of things I could have added/deleted to make it better. That's an author's life. It's easy to fall into the "just one more round of edits" treadmill. I 'finished' that manuscript back in November 2024. I set myself a goal to get it done by the end of that month. and I wrote forward daily, even during Thanksgiving, to get it finished. I wrote over 15,000 words! The only way...
